HOW CAN WE RECOGNIZE OUR SECRET SINS?
October 26, 2023
But who can discern their own errors?
Forgive my hidden faults. Psalm 19:12 (NIV)
No temptation has overtaken you
Except as is common to man;
But God is faithful, Who will not allow you
To be tempted beyond what you are able,
But with temptation will also make the way of escape,
That you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)
Our Father Who art in Heaven and in my heart, Hallowed be Thy Name, the God Who Carries Me from Mercy to Pardon. O Lord, You say that no temptation has overtaken me, that is not common to every person. And yet, my sins seem so very personal, so pointed. Who among my colleagues would be that foolish to fall for things that have tempted me? Help me, Lord, to not repeat past sins, and deliver me from the temptation to begin new ones. Hallelujah!
Forgive me, also Father, for my hidden faults. You know what they are, even if I am not fully aware. My awareness of these sins requires contemplation. My acknowledgement of them requires a study of and belief in the Scriptures. My forgiveness requires that I act on the Faith that Jesus Christ has given me to see and understand the Truth. The devil’s handbook is always being rewritten, but Your Word, Father, is Eternal. Day by day, You are leading me from Mercy to Pardon, from darkness to light, from death to Eternal Life. Hallelujah!
For those praying with me, may You remember that our Heavenly Father sent His Son to earth to destroy the devil’s handiwork. Temptation was the first rule of order, as Jesus was tempted in the wilderness for 40 days. Why? Our Heavenly Father wanted to show us that we, too, will be tempted. And we, like Jesus, can reject the devil. We can ask him to get behind us…to flee from us. Because Satan had no luck with Jesus, he is now concentrating on you and me. He is successful because of our secret faults, that continue to nibble away at our Salvation. Ask the Lord to reveal these sins, so you can give them into the hands of Jesus, where He will exchange them for His mercy, and offer you His blesséd pardon. Hallelujah!
No one who lives in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him. 1 John 3:6 (NIV)
Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 1 John 3: 7-9 (NIV)
